eclecticism

As an architect practicing in Nigeria, I have noticed that the common style for residential architecture is “eclecticism”, which is a mix of elements from historical styles. Despite having a preferred style, I often find myself resorting to the popular style in my area due to client demand and practical considerations such as heavy rainfall. However, I believe that as knowledge and architectural exposure increase, demand and design of unique and pure architectural styles will increase. I am also curious to know if it is advisable for young architects to stick to specific architectural styles.
